Process Addiction Treatment
Process Addiction Treatment
Process addictions are considered to be the same as behavioural challenges that don’t involve substances such as alcohol, drugs or smoking, but that do feature obsessional thoughts and compulsive activities.
In our process addiction treatment, we recognized this addiction as an overwhelming impulse to engage in a certain activity, despite the possibilities of negative consequences, whether acknowledged or in denial. Whilst engaging in their process addiction, the person will experience an elevated mood often followed by a sense of shame, guilt or remorse, once the activity has finished, whether by choice or involuntarily.
Process Addiction Treatment tudies show that the occurrence of a process addiction can be quite high. Some behaviour addictions are more common than others, and some are related to new developments in technology; for example, screen addiction is rampant in children growing up in an age of readily available tablets and smartphones.
While one can theoretically become addicted to almost any behaviour, common behavioural addictions tend to focus on high-reward or high-risk actions. Behaviour addiction rates vary depending on the specific behaviour in question.

How Are Process Addictions Similar & Different From Substance Use Disorders?
Addiction can take many different forms. Substance use disorder (SUD) comes along with the compulsive use of substances and the negative consequences it causes. Another type of addiction is behavioural. Behavioural addiction also has adverse effects that impact an adolescent’s life. Behavioural addictions don’t have the physical issues that accompany drug and alcohol abuse.
Through our many years of Process Addiction Treatment at Holina, one of many examples that keeps popping up of process addiction is internet addiction, which can be similar to drug addiction. when it comes to Process Addiction Treatment the person isn’t addicted to a substance, but the behaviour or feeling that comes from surfing the internet. The individual finds surfing the web rewarding psychologically or gets a “high” while surfing. Later on, guilt, remorse, or consequences of that continued choice affect him or her. Also, the person doesn’t have the physical signs of drug addiction.

Process Addiction Treatment, Facts & Data
Gambling addiction may impact up to 2-3 per cent of the American public. Its signs, symptoms, and impacts may vary across, age groups, and other populations. Men are more likely to develop a gambling problem at an earlier age as compared to women, but women make up about 25 per cent of those living with a gambling addiction. Risk factors for the disorder include mental health disorders like bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and substance abuse disorders, especially cocaine and/or alcohol abuse or addiction.
Though similar in many ways, food addiction is different from binge eating disorder. Though both may result in obesity, people who struggle with food addiction may also be of normal weight. The period between sessions of eating large amounts of food may be characterized by different eating behaviours among patients living with BED as compared to food addiction.
Compulsive shopping is often believed to be a female problem, but CNN reports that about 6 per cent of women struggle with the problem – and so do 5.5 per cent of men. Unfortunately, because shopping is a common and normal behaviour, and compulsive shoppers often go out of their way to hide the evidence of their purchases, it’s not always easy to identify the problem. Even one of the common signs of the disorder – frequent arguments over money with a spouse or significant other – is a normal issue. However, alcohol use disorders and/or an eating disorder like binge eating or bulimia often co-occur with shopping addiction, so these issues may be signs of the disorder as well.
